Week Two
Stellenbosch, Cape Town and Victoria Falls

Savannah Safaris appreciate that the best holidays benefit from contrast and piquancy. After days spent in the great outdoors and evenings under starry skies a change of gear is offered, with a retreat to the bygone splendour of the Royal Livingstone Hotel overlooking the Zambesi River and the Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls — 2 nights

Here you can experience the legendary “Smoke that Thunders” and feel the spritz and mist of the waterfall on your skin as the Zambesi plunges 350ft over a sheer cliff and onwards through several gorges. While the falls themselves are regarded as one of the seven wonders of the natural world, the Victoria Falls Bridge which spans the river and was constructed in 1905 is acknowledged as one of the outstanding engineering feats of all time.

Stellenbosch and Cape Town — 6 nights

What better place to toast the marvels you have seen than in one of the most prestigious wine growing region is in the world? After a private inclusive transfer to your villa, you can indulge yourself tasting the vintages of some exceptional wine. Because Savannah Safaris offers a truly bespoke vacation, you might choose to dip your toes in the ocean with a couple of nights at the Blue Peter hotel at Bloubergstrand, on South Africa’s best beach instead.

Cape Town

One of the most sought after destinations and a favourite with royalty and film stars alike, Cape Town offers a myriad of attractions. You might like the buzz of the V&A Waterfront, a harbour constructed in 1860 by Queen Victoria’s son Prince Alfred, which has 180 rugby pitches’ worth of retail potential (450 shops) and dining opportunities to make your mouth water. Robben Island, prison home of Nelson Mandela, is a vivid reminder of the historical significance of South Africa’s recent past and for lovers of matchless landscapes there’s the craggy Cape Peninsula and, of course, Table Mountain.
