Our South Africa Safaris Itineraries

Gold: All-Inclusive Luxury Safari

Our Gold all-inclusive luxury safari package includes all of your meals, a private chef, drinks, safari game drives, excursions and transfers. In smaller groups of up to 8 guests, you can enjoy an intimate and more personalised safari experience with plenty of chances to really connect to the landscape and its inhabitants.

You’ll stay in one of our luxury chalets during your safari, the elegant architecture designed to blend into the landscape but at the same time reveal its beauty. Guests can also enjoy a swimming pool, spa pool and evenings around the Braai barbecue under starry skies.

If you can tear yourself away from the exclusivity of Savannah Lodge, there are morning and evening safari drives in our comfortable, purpose-built vehicle.

To give you a clearer sense of the wonders of the Black Rhino Reserve and the wider Pilanesberg Wildlife Park, you’ll also be whisked away for a balloon flight during your stay. Along your journey, you’ll see the bright lights and razzmatazz of Sun City – we want you to notice the bigger picture, as well as all the fascinating detail.

This package runs from November to Mid-March.

Silver: Luxury Group Safari Meals Included

For our silver luxury group safari, you’ll get all your meals and drinks included, your very own private chef, safari drives and 5-star accommodation, offering guests a truly luxurious experience. In a small group of up to 8 guests, you can enjoy an exclusive and personal safari experience, something you might not get with a larger group trip.

For guests whose time is limited, or who have visited the country before and are in search of a more rarefied and intuitive experience, a week in one of the four beautifully appointed chalets at Savannah Lodge offers everything you might want from a safari holiday - and more.

We are based in a private game reserve within the Pilanesberg Wildlife Park and with fewer vehicles passing through, lions, elephants, and other members of the celebrated Big 5 roam about freely. Our ranger guides use their own instincts and skills and don’t rely on reported sightings from other trackers, making your experience even more authentic.

When you are not out on our morning and evening safari drives, there are delicious meals provided by our gourmet chef for you to enjoy as well as all the facilities around the Lodge. The accommodation is designed to the highest ecological standards, with beautiful gardens to wander through, shady terraces, a spa pool, and a swimming pool. It is the people we work with as well as the animals we observe and protect which make a Savannah Safaris vacation so special, so our staff are on hand.

Bronze: Luxury Self-Catering Safari

Don’t let the word ‘bronze’ fool you into thinking that you’re not getting the luxurious experience that we offer with our other packages, because you certainly are. With 5-star accommodation, daily safari drives and small groups of up to 10 guests, this package allows you to see the best of South Africa, in style.

We want the delights of a Savannah Safaris vacation to be available to all, which is why our thoughtfully planned portfolio includes a self-catering option perfect for families who might be holidaying together. For parents who enjoy cooking their own meals, you can rustle up something you know the kids will like, at a time which suits the whole family.

We can welcome up to ten self-catering guests and all the luxurious facilities on the Savannah Lodge – even a pool table – are there for them to enjoy. With a swimming pool, spa pool and a barbecue for dining under the stars, there are opportunities to create memories for the very young as well as for their parents and grandparents.

There are morning and evening safari drives for our self-catering guests, and the opportunity to be up close and personal with so many thrilling animals in a safe and protected environment. What better way to set your child’s imagination on fire?

Our Safari Lodge

Our Luxury Safari Lodge in Pilanesberg is located at Black Rhino Private Reserve in the incredible Pilanesberg National Park. We offer four individual, luxury chalets situated around a hospitality lodge. Each one is fitted with sophisticated decor, centred around the stunning colours of teal and taupe.

Throughout the chalets, you will find natural materials that help give it an authentic South African feel. Not only are you able to stay somewhere that offers a welcoming and cosy environment, but the surrounding landscape gardens are brimming with sunshine, lush greenery and shaded spots. All of this is situated in the private game reserve and is waiting for you to see how magical a Savannah Safaris Lodge really is.

We can be infinitely flexible, welcoming honeymooners, couples, groups, or families with young children. Our luxury suites take the form of double-height chalets with traditional pitched thatched roofs and a stunning glazed gable wall with views of the bush and the hills beyond. All four of them have a spacious air-conditioned double bedroom, while two have an additional mezzanine area with double or twin beds, which make them perfect for families. Beautifully appointed bathrooms with dramatic stand-alone bath, shower and double basin come as standard, with a private outdoor shower too, and there is a complimentary tea and coffee station and minibar fridge.

At the heart of the Lodge complex is our hospitality chalet. Designed with an open plan elegance, its centrepiece is a magnificent dining table where up to twelve people can enjoy gourmet cooking served by our own private chef. With squashy leather sofas in which to relax, a fully stocked bar, a pool table and a state-of-the-art large screen TV and DVD player, all your comforts are catered for.

Self-catering guests will also have the benefit of our comprehensively equipped kitchen complete with an American-style fridge freezer, ceramic hob, oven, and dishwasher.

The grounds at Savannah Lodge have been landscaped to provide a beautiful transition from indoors to out, with well-stocked flowerbeds, sinuous paths, and shady terraces. Each chalet has a private deck from which to admire the view. There is a braai barbeque around which you can enjoy starlit nights. You will also find a spa pool and a small swimming pool, set against a backdrop of the lush green hills of the veldt.

For the best luxury safari experience you need the best possible vehicle in which to travel, and Savannah Safaris’ has one which has been custom-built to safely and comfortably accommodate up to ten people. As you travel in the open air, you will find an ideal vantage point from which to explore the nature reserve.

Although life at the Lodge may seem effortless, there is also dedicated support staff on hand to make everything run smoothly and we are fortunate to have the services of two housemaids, a gardener, a highly-skilled ranger guide and a lodge manager. Guests on our Platinum, Gold, and Silver safaris will also benefit from the culinary expertise of our private gourmet chef.

Pilanesberg Safari Tours

Pilanesberg Game Reserve is like no other. Located northwest of Johannesburg, this incredible park truly brings dreams to reality with all that it has to offer. The park is set in an extinct volcanic crater, with its landscape consisting of grasslands, wooded valleys and interesting rock formations.

A landscape of rocky outcrops, wooded valleys and rolling grasslands – the perfect habitat for the rarest and most varied of South Africa’s wildlife. The malaria-free game reserve is protected by the internationally renowned conservation values of Operation Genesis. And best of all, the reserve is only two hours drive from Johannesburg.

Tucked away in the northwest corner of the Black Rhino Reserve within the Pilanesberg National Park is the Savannah Safaris lodge. With its subdued colours, natural materials, and thoughtfully luxurious touches, it’s in perfect harmony with the beautiful landscape in which it sits. Each of the four well-equipped private chalets has a fully glazed gable wall offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

If you are planning a trip on safari, you are no doubt seeking the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Big Five, and Pilanesberg won’t disappoint. Its wildlife is made up of elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, Cape buffalo and more. You will also find yourself astounded by the number of large bird species here such as eagles and ostriches. With so much to offer, it comes as no surprise why this reserve is favoured among many for the ultimate luxury safari experience in South Africa.

With drier conditions, the wildlife congregates during this time around watering holes, providing the perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse of the animals heading here for a drink.
