Your Host

Adrien Bramoulle has put his heart and soul into Pilanesberg. As a schoolboy, he frequently camped in the wildlife park and later he was part of the working party removing signs of human habitation and restoring its natural environment. The place is in his DNA and his extensive knowledge, built up over decades, makes him the perfect host for a luxury safari vacation.

In his former life as a veterinary sector professional, Adrien studied and worked in France, the UK and throughout the world. He built up 20 years’ managerial experience in sales, marketing and strategy within the animal health pharmaceutical and surgical field throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He was also an invited guest lecturer for MBA management courses.

However, the lure of the veldt was too strong and he abandoned his high-flying career to return to Pilanesberg as an owner of Savannah Safari’s lodge. He also puts his know how to good use as a Board Member of the Elephant Population Management Program, an international collaboration of wildlife specialists, veterinarians, industry partners and game reserve/national park managers. Adrien’s parents were French-born and his attachment to his French roots means that he combines welcoming guests to Pilanesberg from November to mid-March with hosting luxury hotel barge cruises in France from April to October.

Your Private Chef

Born and raised in the Occitanie in southern France and trained at the school of cuisine in Beziers, your personal chef Valérie Egea has steeped herself in the arts of the finest French cooking. She will conjure up delicious lunches and dinners throughout your week -long stay at Savannah lodge and she notes your food preferences and allergies in advance in order to cater for your personal needs. Her experience of working in prestigious vegetarian and organic restaurants in the south of France make her ideally equipped to plan a diverse range of menus to perfection, using ingredients locally sourced and delivered wherever possible. When she is not working her magic in Pilanesberg, she spends from April to October with owner Adrien Bramoulle delighting guests on his luxury hotel barge Savannah with her well-honed culinary talent.

Fine Wines

Wines are permanently sourced from regional vineyards so as to offer exceptional products from the wine producing areas close by, and wines and champagnes from other regions of the world are also available.

At least two wine tastings are organised for the two-week Platinum safari vacation in the prestigious Stellenbosch vineyards near Cape Town allowing you to meet the wine maker, visit the domains and discover their acclaimed creations.

In safe hands

We have handpicked our select band of ranger-guides for their detailed local knowledge of both the wildlife and the terrain. For example, Bonny Southey was born in Pilanesberg and knows the game reserve like the back of her hand. She has been a professional ranger and field guide for more than four years and has the requisite first aid and firearms certification. She is friendly and knowledgeable and always goes the extra mile to make sure that our guests experience wildlife encounters in a way which is both memorable and completely safe.

Back at base

Lodge Manager Charlotte looks after the lodge day-to-day, making sure that everything is as it should be and runs smoothly. She liaises with our Rangers and Chefs and also does the initial grocery shop for self-catering guests.

Our two full-time housemaids, Poppy and Balakele, keep guest chalets in perfect order, cleaning, tidying and dealing with laundry. Gardener Jonathan keeps our grounds, plants and our pool looking at their very best.
