Group Safaris at Pilanesberg

If the ultimate blend of luxury and adventure is your thing, a Savannah Safaris’ vacation might be the perfect choice for you, combining top notch hospitality with the chance to encounter a fabulous collection of wild animals and natural flora, including the BIG 5, in their natural habitat. We find it incredibly gratifying when friendship groups and those drawn together by business or a particular hobby have the chance to share what is an extraordinarily bonding experience – as one of our French guests, Charles, remarked, “It’s such an emotional experience to see animals in natural surroundings."

Because the landscape – and the experience itself – is so distinctive, one of our luxury safaris can provide the ideal touchstone for those with a passion for photography, painting, writing or wildlife study, and we can easily accommodate special interest groups or business trips.

With Savannah Safaris your group can choose self-catering or full-on luxury to suit your style, but whichever you choose your daily itinerary is flexible and you’ll have an unforgettable vacation together.

Savannah Safaris’ Private Luxury Lodge

Your accommodation is five-star luxury all round, sophisticated but relaxed: enjoy large and beautifully furnished 2 or 4 bed chalets with double-height thatched ceilings, sublimely comfy double and single beds with top-grade linens, and unbroken views into the bush and across the hillsides. The bathrooms are spacious with large free-standing stone baths, open showers and double basins, and there are private open-air showers to cool off straight-away after a day-out. Sit out in the shady gardens on private terraces, or lounge by the pool and sip cool, refreshing drinks.

Uniquely, the Savannah Safaris’ Lodge is completely private – only for you and your group, with just the right amount of non-intrusive pampering from the staff so that you can work or study, or just get on with enjoying yourselves.

There’s a gourmet chef to prepare all your meals just as you like them (but not for self-catering groups); a maintenance man to attend to the gardens and pools; and house-keepers to tidy and clean your chalets every day. It’s a five-star treat that everyone will appreciate.

You’ll arrive to a sparkling champagne reception and a very warm welcome, and then there’s time to get unpacked and begin to unwind in your new Lodge surroundings. And your private safari vehicle is standing by when you’re all ready to take your first drive into Pilanesberg’s animal reserve.

Why Pilanesberg National Park

Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa

Pilanesberg is where the big outdoors and the possibility of big game encounters come as one. Because of its relatively small size and its location at a point where the desert meets the veldt, it is home to a range of wildlife that is both varied and found in concentrated numbers. There is so much to see and discover and our professional and experienced ranger-guides are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with you.

There are daily international flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg and your onward travel to Sun City and your meeting point with us takes under two hours, making journeys easy and affordable. (The price of the Rand has fallen in recent years making South Africa a seriously attractive destination for financial reasons, too).

South Africa isn’t just about the wildlife (although you wouldn’t want to miss out on a luxury safari). Because our vacations are bespoke, we can combine a wide selection of experiences that can focus on natural and cultural life, too. You can enjoy a wonderful week’s safari, add the excitement and contrast of city life, and also have time for sun-worshipping on South Africa’s finest beach. On a  two week Platinum experience, for example, your group itinerary is entirely tailor-made but can include any of these:
